Long Hill Township A lovely suburb in eastern Morris County
Long Hill is a township located in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The township is situated in the central part of the county and is home to a diverse community of over 8,600 residents. It is bounded by the Passaic River to the south and west and to the north by the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge which covers 7,455 acres of land overseen by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Refuge lands also lie within neighboring Chatham and Harding townships. Millington Arboretum is located in the heart of Long Hill and features a variety of trees, flowers, and plants. The arboretum is a great place to go for a walk or to simply relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Schooley’s Mountain County Park is located in the western part of Long Hill and features over 500 acres of woodlands, streams, and fields. The park is popular for hiking, picnicking, and birdwatching. Morris County Golf Course public golf course is located in the southern part of Long Hill and features a championship 18-hole course as well as a driving range and practice facilities.
The Mall at Short Hills is an upscale shopping mall is located just a short drive from Long Hill and features over 150 high-end retailers and a variety of dining options.
The Long Hill Township School System serves public school students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in the Gillette School system. Grades Pre-K–1 attend Millington School, grades 2–5 Central Middle School and grades 6–8. Long Hill Township’s high school. Students in public school for ninth through twelfth grades attend Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren Township. Students from Long Hill Township and from the neighboring communities of Green Brook Township, Warren Township and Watchung (in Somerset County) attend the this high school.
NJ Transit rail service is available at the Gillette, Millington and Stirling stations, offering service on the Gladstone Branch to Newark Broad Street Station and Hoboken Terminal.
